New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal promises 300 Units of free electricity for every family, Arvind Kejriwal tweeted Tuesday to say he is en route to Punjab – where battle lines between the ruling Congress and the AAP have been clearly drawn ahead of next year’s election.
The announcement, which he made on his Twitter handle, came amid efforts by the ruling Congress in the state to offer 300 units of free electricity to all households, a key promise the party had made before the last Assembly elections which the party’s high command now wants to be fulfilled in a time-bound manner.

Arvind Kejriwal is the National Convener of the Aam Aadmi Party and Chief Minister of the Union Territory of Delhi. He was also a member of the India Against Corruption campaign led by Anna Hazare against the growing corruption in the country. He is also a Magsaysay award winner for his work on the grassroots through his organization Parivartan. His party later won 67 out of 70 seats during the 2015 assembly elections.

Earlier on Monday, Kejriwal tweeted, “In Delhi, we give 200 units of electricity free to every family. Women are very happy. The women of Punjab are also hit hard due to the price rise. In Punjab, too AAP government will give free electricity. Let’s meet tomorrow in Chandigarh.

There have been widespread protests in urban and rural areas against the breakdown in power supply. In many places, in rural areas, employees of Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) have been attacked by irate farmers who have not been able to get the promised eight-hour uninterrupted power supply for paddy sowing
While addressing a press conference in Chandigarh, Arvind Kejriwal promises 300 Units of free electricity for every family. Kejriwal announced that 300 electricity units will be given free to domestic consumers in Punjab and all arrears in electricity bills will be waived.
“If elected, the AAP government in Punjab will give every household in the state free electricity up to 300 units. By doing this, around 77 percent to 80 per cent of the people of Punjab will have zero electricity bills, he said. He also promised a 24×7 power supply in Punjab.

That tweet followed one from last night, in which Mr. Kejriwal promised “300 units of free electricity” – a poll promise that won the AAP two Delhi elections and one he is expected to make in Punjab too.”In Delhi, we provide 200 units of free electricity to every family. Women are very happy. Women in Punjab are unhappy with inflation. AAP will provide 200 units of free electricity for all in Punjab,” Mr. Kejriwal said.
That promise comes as the Congress high command pushes Amarinder Singh to make a similar promise – to ensure 200 units of power free for households, especially those in urban areas. The AAP is targeting the issue of inflated power bills – which have been protested by state employees, unemployed teachers, and opposition parties – to target the Punjab government. Mr. Kejriwal has also said the AAP’s chief ministerial candidate will be from the Sikh community.
Arvind Kejriwal promises 300 Units of free electricity for every family. Arvind Kejriwal is expected to address a press conference in Chandigarh at 1 pm – an event for which permission, his party yesterday claimed, had been denied.
“Captain Amarinder’s fear of Kejriwal has reached a point where his office has denied us permission to hold a press conference at the pre-decided venue,” party leader Raghav Chadha tweeted Monday. Mr. Singh hit back swiftly (and sarcastically), refusing the claim and adding “If he (Arvind Kejriwal) wants, I’d be happy to arrange his lunch too“.

Punjab में AAP की सरकार देगी 300 Unit FREE Electricity!

Nine days ago he was in Amritsar to induct former IPS officer Vijay Pratap Singh, who was part of the team that investigated the 2015 Kotkapura police firing incident.
The police team’s report into that incident was quashed by the Punjab and Haryana High Court in April – an action that has added to rumblings within the Congress against Amarinder Singh.

Sparring between the two parties and their leaders has escalated steadily over the past few weeks with the 2022 election in mind.
